It's A Me

In celebration of reaching 120 stars in Super Mario Galaxy — it was pure, brilliant fun throughout, including some deliciously difficult extra levels, and is worth playing just to hear all of the music — I thought I'd post this short video I took last year in Japan, back when New Super Mario Bros. came out.

I hope this brightens your day: twenty five seconds of the World's Happiest Mario.

Try to pause on the suspicious businessman for a great visual. Anyway, thanks, Mario!

PS: Quicktime 7.2.1's new "Export For Web..." feature is totally fantastic. A compressed full-size movie, and two smaller iPhone movies (one for WiFi and one for EDGE), all linked to a reference movie, in one action? So nice.

PPS: It seems you still can't layer a <div> on top of a Quicktime movie, which is why that goofy picture doesn't zoom. Bummer.

Oh, that's great! That man was doing the "WTF, silly Gaijin!" look. Haha!

That is one shifty looking businessman. o_0

And, I totally missed the Luma in the background of Wall-E! That's amazing!

Great visual indeed.

I have heard of a mystery 121st star. Go Cabel go!

Wow, I'm impressed. I think I only have like 20 stars. I clearly haven't been playing much.

I think for the 121st, you have to beat the last boss a second time to unlock Luigi, and then get all 120 stars with him, and then you can get the 121st. But um, I seriously do not have that much time on my hands.

Cabel, you have already met Luigi?!

You can actually layer anything on top of a QuickTime movie on Leopard by using the wmode="transparent" attribute on your embed element. Incidentally, this attribute will allow you to change the movie's opacity, and funky things like that. Check out session 619 from this year's WWDC to learn how to use it (including some nifty demos).

Congratulations! I took a detour to metroid prime corruption first after having my 61st star - but i surely will follow you in the quest of getting all 120 stars.

I hope it doesn't take that long to get 120 stars... I've lost my man to this game.

The picture you put up is PURE LMAO material. Haha, Congrats :-)

I think Mario Galaxy is my favorite game in many years. I'm at around 80 stars.
